Application help
Answers for each step.
Short guides written for first-years and sophomores. Each one links to the tool you need next.
Reading an eligibility line
Each listing shows who can apply. If a rule is not on the official page, we don't show it. When a line says 'open to sophomores and above', check the year you will be in the summer you apply for.
Open the tool →How many programs to apply to
Match the list to the deadlines you can meet. A short, balanced list of four to eight programs usually beats a long rushed one.
Open the tool →Asking for a recommendation
Give a recommender at least three weeks, send the program name and deadline, and list what you did in their class or lab.
Open the tool →Following up after you apply
Wait about two weeks after the deadline, then send one short note. Restate the role and ask whether anything else would help.
Open the tool →What the tracker stages mean
Saved means you're considering it. Applied means you submitted. Interviewing means they reached out. Offer or closed is the final result.
Open the tool →Writing bullets from class work
Start with what you built or analyzed, add the tool you used, then one number if you have it. A class project counts as a project.
